Any truth to this Starbucks thing?

Received this as an Email, any truth about it or is this a fake?

Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let
them know how much they liked their coffees
and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.

Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support
of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor
anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of
coffee.
So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support
them by buying any of their products!
As a war vet writing to fellow patriots, I feel we should get this
out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some
folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground
fighting street-to-street and house-to-house for what they and I believe
is right.
If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it
and no one will never know.

Thanks very much for y our support. I know you'll all be there again when
I deploy once more.

I don't know, it sounds pretty much off the wall to me. If it turns out to be true, it's a real shame. Let's just hope it's a fluke story. Whether or not you support the war, the troops command our support 100%.

Why do people write those ridiculous things? Do they just have a beef with Starbucks and make up a story to rally people behind them? Just ridiculous.

I heard a while back, someone refer to Starbucks as part of the evil empire of corporations. Of course Microsoft and some others were in there too.

Rediculous! Don't buy the product if you don't like it. It's America, we do have the freedom of choice.

Starbucks has some really good coffee! I may have to indulge in some of that Pumpkin Spiced Latte for the holidays. Yum Yum!
    No excuses!

DJ I doubt that is true about Starbucks, they are way smarter than that, however, Target did respond to a group I belonged to wanting support for veterans that honoring a war effort was not something they felt appropriate for their charitable donations.

The problem with Starbucks (at least in our city) is that they target the most popular coffee house and proceed to build not one, but two locations on the same block. Their coffee isn't better and is never cheaper, they just run a very aggressive business.

More power to 'em I guess... I'm not going to knock them for trying to succeed. However, their coffee is far from the best and has run many a coffee I thoroughly enjoy right out of business.

So eff their Peppermint Mochashamalama Whopudding Latte....
    but I'm just being petty.

Common misconception. I think their coffee is better than most, but that's just taste. But as for cheaper, they tend to be cheaper than a lot of other companies, IF you just get a plain coffee. No one goes to Starbucks and just gets a plain coffee though, you get a grande nonfat mocha blah blah, that costs five bucks. For example, in the Northeast, their big competition is Dunkin' Donuts, and most people say they won't go to Starbucks cuz they're so expensive.... but if you got to Starbucks and get a large coffee, it's CHEAPER than a large coffee at Dunkin Donuts. And certainly better than the coffee-flavored water DD serves.

No... you're right. Their regular coffee is competively priced (if not cheaper). It's actually quite good and I enjoy many of the blends when I'm dragged into a Starbucks. I just live in a somewhat bohemian part of town with three coffee joints for every stoplight... and it seems a shame that Starbucks had to go stomping through the daisies.

Like I said... a lot of places I thoroughly enjoyed less than 5 years ago are no longer around. This after being in business for 15 years or more.... Starbucks annihilated them fair and square.

That letter is BS and has been confirmed a long time ago.

I'm in Iraq, and Starbucks is also! They also send free coffee beans over here for the troops, hard to say they don't support us.

Wow, I'm glad to hear that email is bogus. That'd be really sad if it were true.

However, I boycott Starbucks because they're such pro-active supporters of the **** rights movement.

But then, I don't drink coffee anyways. So I guess I should say...I've gotten about 5 or so people so far to stop going to Starbucks.

One thing I've never figured out with Starbucks coffee (compared to other competitors)- how come if one cup of Starbucks goes in...three cups seem to go out right away? Have they got some extra diuretic action in with the beans somehow??

Reminds me of the Steve Spurrier to Miami rumor started on CSTV website. ESPN picked it up and next thing you know, Gamecock fans are sweating their asses off....I was concerned myself even though I know the internet is full of B.S. No one bothered to ask the man himself before running full steam. Reporters fail to do their due dilligence anymore.
