Hey peeps, I am going to be purchasing a pair of monoblock tube amps for my front speakers in about a month or two and was wondering if anyone here has ever used tubes for music and HT. Or would I be better off just buying another pair of fronts for music. I would rather not buy any more speakers as I already have 9 in my Theatre/Listening room. Any input would be great. Thanks!

I'm window shopping for a tube amp to power my HT fronts right now. For a while, I was using a tube int. amp to power my fronts and it was (until yesterday) the best sounding system I put together.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

    "God grooves with tubes."

I forgot to mention that I have a pr of Lsi15's for the front's. Does anybody have any suggestions on a good tube amp to buy for these that is not over $1k? The one I thought about getting I dont think will be able to provide enough juice to run these speakers. It was the Onix SP-3 int. tube amp. Thanks for any help.

Just curious Pepi... why tubes for HT? I would think that this would be the one application where sands amps would win out. More "punch, slam, etc.."

Unless of course, you've got the cheddar for both muscle and honey..

I'd suggest avoiding tubes for home theater and trying something like the new PS Audio GC series of digital amps. The sound is somewhat in between tubes and solid state, but more dynamic than tubes while consuming much less power and producing much less heat than either.

Currently I am running a Sunfire sig. 2 ch for my fronts and a Sunfire sig. Cinema for the c, sur's and rears. I was just wondering if tubes would sound better on HT as well as music. I never listened to tubes before and don't know anyone who has any. I guess maybe I'll buy another pair of speakers just for music and use tubes on them if it's better that way.

How about a tube pre with a HT bypass?

What do you mean HT bypass? And how would I hook it up to my pre-existing setup. I'm using a Sony ES rec. as a pre-pro right now until my wife gives me the okay to buy the Sunfire Theatre Grand IV or V.
