I have also posted this same post in the 2ch forum:

Well in a short while here I will be receiving and adcom gfp 555 to go with my adcom gfa 555. I will be using a kenwood tuner, and a sony cd/dvd/sacd player as sources. I'm really tempted to try different cables as I am using the cheapys tha come in the boxes. You know the ones that are the thickness of dental floss. I am tempted to try monster, acoustic research, rca(the beefier ones) philips etc. I'm not looking for the ulimate cable, just to see if I can here an improvement. I guess I'm asking for some suggestions for something on the cheap, cheap of cheap. Or even if their is some one in eastern central MI who would let me audition some for about a week to see if I can hear any improvements. Also if I am to buy a single pair, where does one thing I would hear the biggest improvement, between source and pre or between pre and amp?

any info would be great.

I know there are a lot of post on the subject, and it has been beaten to death, I have read alot of them and am just kinda looking for a starting point. If some one could recommend something on the really cheap it would also be awesome.

Thanks all,
Dude

For great cables that don't cost much, check out Blue Jeans Cable. They offer a 30-day (I think its 30...), no-questions-asked return policy, so it won't hurt to try.

Another option would be www.signalcable.com. Good price, value and Frank offers a discount for Forum members.

    ^^^^^^^^ what he said
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

HI DUDE I WILL SEND YOU A PAIR OF CABLES TO GO WITH THE PREAMP THAT ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE STANDARD ONES YOU GET WITH YOUR VCR OR DVD PLAYER IN THE BOX. AS FAR AS WHAT IS THE BIGGEST SOUND DIFFRENCE BETWEEN PREAMP AND AMP OR BETWEEN SOURCE AND PREAMP I BELIEVE IT IS BETWEEN PREAMP AND AMP. I AM USING RELATIVLEY CHEAP RCA INTERCONNECTS BETWEEN MY TUNER AND MY PREAMP THERE ABOUT 40 FEET LONG. THE TUNER IS A PIONEER F-91. I HAD NICER ONES HOOKED UP WITH THE SAME PREAMP AND TUNER BUT DIDNT NOTICE A REAL DIFFERENCE. BUT I NOTICED A HUGE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN RCAS ON THE PREAMP TO AMP LOOP. YOU CAN PROBALLY BUY ANOTHER 6 FT PAIR THAT WILL WORK PRETTY WELL FOR YOU FOR AROUND $15.00 AT YOUR LOCAL RADIO SHACK OR OTHER AUDIO OUTLET. IM SURE THAT THERE IS SOME SOUND DIFFRENCE BETWEEN A $15.00 PAIR AND A $1500.00 PAIR OF INTERCONNECTS, BUT NOT TO BE TRUTHFUL ITS REALLY NOT OVERWHEMLINGLY SO. IMHO YOUR ALWAYS BETTER OFF SPENDING THE MONEY ELSEWHERE ONCE YOU HAVE A DECENT PAIR OF CABLES. REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

+1 for Blue jeans cable. That is what I used to use for my system and still is hooked up to my friends system. I only replaced them because I was given some MIT's. Diminishing returns definitely applies here. The MIT cables are better, but if they are worth the price or not is up to you. Try some out. See what you think.

Really, why so long Snow? Tuner and pre were actually that far apart?

yes i thought that statement might raise a few eyebrows. the reason for this is my tuner does not currently have a remote and my pre pro is clear accross the room with the rest of the amps dvd player etc. so rather than get up walk accross the room whenever i want to change stations, i have the tuner next to me which requires 40 feet long interconnects to the pre pro.this is only a temporary problem. i do intend to eventually buy another remote when i find time to do so. if anyone who reads this happens to have a remote for a pioneer F-91 tuner please pm me with a price lol.
