I have trouble with TV sound, at times it is dead the picture on the TV is fine, when sound returns the picture is a little pixel'd done the sound and picture is returned fine. This is with DirecTV H10-250 receiver the H10-250 is optical output to the AVR, also HDMI output to the TV. So I tried this HDMI input to TV optical output from TV to AVR, works ok but if the channel is DD then I get nothing, if the sound is normal it's fine? Can the TV do DD output or is it the HDMI cable? I'm using the same cables for all my checking inputs.

All Hr10-250s received a software upgrade over the last month or so. You probably got a message telling you this was happening. Needless to say, the new software has some serious issue. Guides are faster, but as you are now experiencing, audio dropouts occur with OTA HD broadcast. Some just get it on the Fox network, I unfortunately get these dropouts on all my OTA HD broadcasts. More details below.

    Soccerplayer,

Thanks I didn't understand just how big this problem is... It's funny my problem seems to be with HD locals only but not FOX (but I don't get FOX usually) my problem is with CBS.

My other problem is if I'm getting my audio from my TV instead then any DD signal is a no go. Cable or TV issue who knows?
