My father has a pair of KLH 5's that he bought back in the late 70's or early 80's from Stereo Discounters(for those that live in the area, back in the day).

How do those speakers stack up for that vintage?
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Very close to the top of the stack. One of only two Kloss designed KLH models that employed a mid-range, and that was only in order to increase the power handling a bit. KLH 5, 6, 17, and 23 are where it's at. There was a Model 9 electro-static also. Congrats if you can inherit your dad's 5's.

If you do get them don't go ape-**** with power. None of the drivers are liquid-cooled.
