Easy run rca cables from the output on the pioneer to the inputs on the outlaw and run the speaker wires off of the outlaw and the pioneer will control all the functions including the volume and the autosetup ...

I have 3 amps running my system 160 for the center 150 for the fronts and 130 for the side surrounds as well as the avr running the back surrounds at 120watts per channels and it sounds very very sweet,
An added bonus to using a power amp is that the avr will not be strained in any way since it is only being used as a decoder will make it last a whole lot longer and you will get lots of clean power to your system,
remember the more power you feed your speakers the better they will sound , so the rear speakers will be just fine and they will operate safely...

Awesome receiver!! I use mine as a pre/pro in conjunction with 2 Monster MPA 3250 amps. It is simply an amazing box for the money, definetly worth $800.

Any idea what the main differences are between this one and the current '84 model?

I think the main difference are:

    Video:
    - 84txsi has the Faroudja® DCDi® HD Video Scaler which upconverts to 1080P
-74txvi can convert all video inputs to HDMI - does not have the scaler

    Audio:
-84txsi does NOT have the Burr Brown DACs
-74txvi does have the Burr Brown DACS

I think those are the two main...the watts are same

    Hope I answered your questions..
