I bought the Onkyo HTIB 2 yrs ago-the receiver is the HT-R510-specs are100watts per channel min.RMS @ 8ohms 2 channels driven from 20 Hz to 20 kHz(from the manual) I have been upgrading my system- Fronts Polk RTi4--Center Polk CSi3--Rears Axiom QS8--Denon 1930ci dvd player--Hitachi 57F59 RP CRT---Question will the Onkyo power my speakers until I can upgrade at a later date(all of my upgrades have been done in the last 3 weeks,so the pocket book is a little low)Room is roughly 15x18x8.I will probably get a refurbished Onkyo 703 after the first of the year.Thanks.

It will probably be a somewhat weak, but it will work. I just bought a refurbished 703 from shoponkyo.com for $450 shipped.

Bird, Onkyo includes pretty good receivers in their packages and your 510 actually is quite powerful ; it should be plenty for your needs. If there's some added feature on the 703 that you want, that's fine, but don't get the idea that it will be a significant "upgrade" from the power standpoint(except that the 703 has seven channels, if you need them), since they're nearly identical in that regard.

John K. -Thanks that is good news-I am happy with my present Onkyo-it does everything I need-I don't have all of my speakers yet-some are in transit.I wasn't going to upgrade unless I had too.If this receiver can handle the load,I will keep it and save some money.
