I had to edit this ad after getting home and finding that I have 1 GFA 555 and 1 GFA 555MKII.
Pictures have been added. I am selling these to get a plate amp for my subwoofer system.

Amp 1
Nice Adcom 555 power amp, one small ding on the front that is not through the paint, and a coule of nicks on the front horizontal ribs. I have been using this amp for a long time now, never a problem. Selling to get a plate amp.
200 wpc 8ohm, 325 wpc 4ohm, No original box or manual.
SOLD Asking 275.00 plus shipping.

Amp 2
Nice Adcom 555MKII power amp, very tiny nick (as in one the size of a pin head) on the face. I have only checked this amp for operation, never truely but it in my stereo for any length of time. I tested it for a day and ran it throught the paces, never a problem.
200 wpc 8ohm, 325 wpc 4ohm, I have the original box, no manual.
SOLD Asking 325.00 plus shipping.

Russ

Pictures added, first is the 555, second is the 555MKII

What are your thoughts on using the 555 bi-amped to the highs on a 1.2 TL with a 565 mono blocks on the bottoms?

It would be a great idea (as I am selling this amp)

Really though, that's a lot of power, and I am sure it would sound great.

Not as good as if you bought the other 555 I have and get your quad-amped ON!!!

Is the gain identical on both amps?

I think I heard somewhere that the MK2 is not common ground...I might be wrong though....worth checking if the intention is to use with SDA's.

Still a great deal on both amps.

Thanks. I was kicking around the idea of bi-amping the SRT mains with a set of 565s on the stereo arrays (with the tweeter) and a 555 on the SDA arrays (without the tweeter), along with a third 565 on the SRT Center, which is basically a horizontal version of the SRT stereo array.

Wasn't really sure if the gain on the 55 was the same as the 565, and couldn't seem to find the info anywhere.

Is the gain on the 535 close too? Hell, I could tri-amp them with 565s on each of the stereo and SDA arrays, with a 535 on each tweeter!

the Adcom 5xx and series II are common ground (w/ the exception of the 555 if run in bridged mode). Obviously the mono block 565's are not common ground.

I believe with the 565's as well as the 585 (essentially the 565's in one chassis) the negative terminals can be tied together to form a common ground. CHECK with ADCOM FOR ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY.

Holy crap! These are exactly what I was going to look for a great deal on a couple more months down the road. This looks like a smokin deal. Are either of them up for sale still? I would prefer the MKI over the MkII. I might jump on one.

+1 to Shack for Hoosier21. Great packaging, by the way!

I haven't had the time to give any serious listening, but from what I have listened to so far, the sound is as expected after demoing the ADCOM 545. Sounds great!

I know it is normal for this ADCOM design, but it does freak me out a little that sound will come out for 30 seconds or so after you turn the amp off. There must be gobs of reserve power.

    Great Deal! Thanks Russ!
