pre outs?

If I have the sony CDX-GT300 deck can do i ahve enough preouts to connect a 4 channel amp and a 2 channel amp? if i have 2 pairs of pre outs?

    You don't have enough outputs to control them separately with your head unit, but some amps have what is called a "pass through" section that allows you to send the same preamp signal through the amp to another amp. Kind of a "daisy chain" type of useage.

    This type of connection would be useful if you wanted to use the 4 channels for your main speakers and then send a signal on to a subwoofer amp that has crossover controls that cuts the signal for use only in the bass range.

    Your other option is a separate active crossover that will divided the signal into the ranges needed for separate amplifiers. A single pair of outputs could run 2 or 3 other amps with a crossover like this.

    i dont get it..,..how many pairs of preouts do u need per amp...

    if the specs say it has 1 pair pre outs how many amps can i run...2...3..?

    mine says i have 2 pairs

    2V Mono Subwoofer Preamp Outputs: In addition to the 2V front and rear preamp outputs, this unit includes one set of 2V mono subwoofer preamp outputs. Although there are two female RCA subwoofer outputs, the same signal is carried by both connections. A low-pass filter (see below) can be used to filter high frequencies from the signals output by the subwoofer outs.

    so with that one i'd be good on the 2 amps right?

    According to that, youll have enough.

    You need 1 pair per output for the amp. One is left and the other is right. So for a 4 channel and a 2 channel amp, youd need 6 total outputs.

    Yep, 3 sets = 6 channels.
