Onkyo DV-CP704 or wait for HD-DVD?

I have a Sony xbr bravia lcd hdtv that goes up to 1080i. The onkyo can upconvert to that through the hdmi cable, but i was wondering if i should just wait for the new blue ray/hd dvd players to come out. My thinking is that since I'm limited by my Sony then I should just get the onkyo, the other side of the coin says, if i spend a couple hundred more i get the latest and greatest...Any opinions or owners of either players?
