Thoughts on the Onkyo TX-SR600 driving Rti-8's among others in stereo and HT applications?

It will drive them and sound ok. But to really make those RTi's deliver their fullest potential, I'd go with a more powerful avr or even better yet- forget about the Onkyo and get an avr with pre-out, this way you can go with seperates. I don't think the 600 has pre-outs. Plus the Rti8's are bright, so pairing it with the 600 will bring out this brightness even more. Just my 2 cents.

I just switched from the Onkyo 600 to a Pioneer Elite receiver. The difference was immediate. The Onkyo is a fine receiver, but the sooner you can swap it out for something more powerful, and something with preouts is a must, the better.

I agree with Ern Dog, the stronger the amp the more you get out of the rti8's. I had the Onkyo 603 that's rated at 90 wpc and when I upgraded to the Onkyo 703 (100 wpc) my rti6's really shined (I also biwired my front 3 speakers). So clean power is a must here.
