This is the review by Joe (hearingimpaired) after our first get together. Many more to come!!! By the way, Joe's a hell of a guy who really knows his audio.

It was an awesome night. I could't believe those AAD 2001s!!!! Silky smooth, great imaging and depth, the decay of the percusion, and voices on some of the recordings ((namely the "Cat took my ****" by Mapleshade (odd genre but exceptional recording) "Jazz at the Pawnshop, Good Vibes" Proprius and a James Taylor CD I can't remember the name)) just went on forever out of a pitch black backround, those speakers were simply breathtaking and the kicker is. . . they are bookshelfs . On most of the material we listened to last night the AADs simply disappeared and the bass was startling. Georg Riedel's double bass on Good Vibes was as clear and tight (you felt as well as heard it) as I've ever heard it from this recording. You felt, not heard but felt the pingggggg and clunck of Lars Erstrand's hammers on the vibes. The typani shots on the James Taylor's CD were literally startling. I never heard bass so "there" on bookshelf speakers without a sub like I did with these speakers. If I didn't already own the SRS 1.2 TLs I would be seriously considering the AAD 2001s. Plus they are beautifully made. Maybe I can talk my wife into letting me buy them for the living room.

Man!! Joe, I couldn't have said it better myself. Your excellent review is dead on accurate. They truly are world class monitors. We had a blast that night didn't we!!! Now, I can't wait to hear your SRS 1.2 TLs in your new home. Hurry up & get packing.

    Yep.

Still lovin' my AAD 2002 center channel. Phenomenal bass. I considered getting the 2001's as fronts, but ended up with CRS+'s.

I built a riser for it yesterday to raise the speaker a few more inches on my TV rack. I'll watch a movie tonight to see if it sounds even better.

Glad to hear you're still enjoying them.

    Early,

That AAD 2002 has got to be the mother of all mothers as far as center speakers go. Awesome bass is an understatement. Enjoy!!! I'd love to hear it in my system. His baby brothers sure do miss him. How's about a road trip!!! LOL

The 2001's are a very impressive speaker. When I purchased my SQ-88 at Quest for Sound those were the speakers I auditioned with it. It was really tough to walk out without buying a set of those too. They are still on my short list for the not too distant future.:D

I'm stumped here. Did you use to live in the area? I've read on some of your other posts about your visit to Quest for Sound. That's one hell of a drive from Iowa. LOL. I'm assuming you were in the area visiting family & friends. If your in the area again give me a holler for a visit at my place. And yes they are very, very impressive speakers. If you think they sounded good at Quest for Sound wait till you give them some breathing room to really strut their stuff. My room is 13x32 & they're flexing their muscles pretty good. And how about Stenephen Monte, isn't he just a super dealer that is very down to earth & really knows how to take care of his customers!!! I'm heading back there in a few weeks to put my Christmas list together.

I've convinced my lovely wife;) :D to let me buy a pair of 2001s for the living room when I get the HT going in there. I forgot to mention to her that I would probably set up a great 2 channel system in there in addition to the one I'll be setting up in the main media room.:D

Thanks for the invite! You assume correctly. I have family in Juniata, Bedford, and Bucks county. Plus my wife and I love spending time in NYC so we are usually out there a least a couple times a year.

You're dead on about Monte. He is hands down the best person I have ever dealt with in this hobby. It's so rare to find long time shop owners that are still enthusiastic about helping people out. It seems that they usually end up bitter towards many of the people that walk through the doors. Probably due to having to deal with too many people coming in and wanting a HT system for $500 bucks.

Next time I'm out your way I'll try to give you some warning and maybe we could get together for some music and refreshments.:D

EDIT: I wanted to try the NEC CD ROM I won from Wes' 1000th post karma with the DAC and your CD tweak to see if this will do in my baseline system are you okay with that?[/QUOTE]

    Joe,

Bring it along & we'll check it out.
