pre-pro upgrade!

Ive recently got the upgrade bug, I been looking at the new Adcom 870 hd pre-pro with 1080p upconvert with hdmi.Adcom has a trade up program with most pre-pros as a trade in, my Sherwood p-965 & 1800.00. The Adcom sells for 2500.00. Just wondering if the Adcom is better than the Sherwood. Also the 1080p output wouldnt help me with my projector Panasoic 900 because it cant handel 1080p, just 720p. One more thing Im confused with the new digital sound from hd & blu-ray, will any pre-pro accept the new sound with hdmi? I keep hearing different stories that some do, but Denon says theres none out there yhat can decode it! Sorry lots of questions, thanks
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

    there are none out there that can decode it yet, but most of the brand new ones, can take the 6 channel pcm signal via hdmi 1.1 that was decoded by the blu-ray or hd-dvd player. It is probably better this way (because the player can mix in other stuff into the decoded pcm) as long as the player(hd-dvd or blu-ray) can decode all the formats you are interested in. The only problem i see right now is that some of the current players dont decode dts-hd Master.

    I don't know ..the Sherwood is a really sweet processor for the dough. I spent a lot more than $2500.00 to successfully upgrade it. Also, if you don't like it you are stuck. I would just buy the Adcom outright and try it out from somewhere with a good return policy. If you like it - sell the P-965..if not - return it.
