Shanling Tube Question

My friend purchased a pair of Shanling SP-80 monoblocks that accept a 6SN7 and 6SL7 tube in each monoblock. The amps did not come with a manual. Since both of these tubes appear visually identical and have the same pin configuration, we are trying to figure out which slot the tubes go in.
He has contacted several guys who mod these amps, including Chris Hall at Parts Connexion, but they didn't know the answer. He is hesitant to use the amps until he determines this. He is considering switching the tubes out on each socket and conducting listening tests. Whichever configuration sounds better will be the one he uses. Will this idea work? Will he harm the amp and/or the tubes by placing them in the wrong socket?
Thanks.

Some tubes have different wiring schemes and damage themselves or equipment if interchanged. I'll bet a google search on pin outs for each one would go a long way. Normally I would look but right now I have some stuff to get done.

Not interchangable. If you can't find any tube data sheets and diagnose the circuit, call Music Hall direct and ask them.

There you go, print out both and compare. Also, look over any specs they show.Vinyl, the final frontier...

Got it. Thanks, fellas.
BTW -- these are the most incredible looking amps I've ever seen. I run a pair of SP-80 in my vinyl rig. When standing in front of an amp and facing it. The left tube is a 6N8P (6SN7) and the right tube is a 6N9P (6SL7).
