removing wood from LSi 15

How are those wood panels attached to the sides of my LSi's? Mine are faded and pretty dinged up. I work for a guitar manufacturer and we process a lot of wood. I'm considering pulling these panels and having someone in the wood shop refinish them. Has anyone done this? Have photos?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't know if you're going to be able to, cleanly. They use pretty strong glue to prevent leaking.
You might want to post this in the DIY channel since they would know a lot more about speaker constructions and if it's possible to yank side panels off.Lovin that music year after year.

Is it the original style or new style LSi? (when looking at the front or back of the speaker, does the gloss look like it was wrapped on the speaker leaving a picture frame effect, or is it smooth gloss to the driver in the front and the ports on the back?)
Picture frame - original style
Smooth to drivers - new style.
The original style is held on by double sided tape and can be removed.
The new style is supposedly held on by glue and is much harder to remove without damage.
Here is the thread from my removal of the sides on the LSi7's.
Here is the thread from a pair of 15's with the sides removed.
good luck and let us know how it goes.

I'm at work, so I'm not sure. Maybe these photos will help:
The top of the speaker is not flat like I've seen in other photos. It has 45 degree edges between the top and the sides.
Thanks for those links and info. Very helpful!Rega P3 > Parasound Zphono > NAD C320BEE > Polk LSi 15 -
Need a pic of the back of the speaker (or the front with the grills off) to be sure, but off the top of my head, I would say those are the new style....
If you call Polk C/S they should be able to tell you for sure. (and tell you what to expect in your project...)

see how the top of the speaker has those angles before it's flat top surface? Is that a newer style or older? I'd imagine it is older, because it looks pretty "unfinished".Rega P3 > Parasound Zphono > NAD C320BEE > Polk LSi 15

Yes that is the original version. They took the beveled tops off due to production issues. They would also have the laminate gloss, rather than painted.

great, thanks. So it looks like these should just peel off.
does anyone have a suggestion for how to re-apply these?Rega P3 > Parasound Zphono > NAD C320BEE > Polk LSi 15 -
More 3m super double sided tape. Talk to Ken, he can probably give you the product #. BTW, you might want to just toss the old panels & have the guitar guys make you something completely new- they're just MDF covered in laminate.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
