Does that make me your brother ?

They had the story of Iwo Jima on the History or Learning channel Friday.
I was at work, so I got to watch it. :)
Any-who, the killing fields that those Marines who hit the black sands of Iwo Jima were brutal almost beyond description.
In a way, it made the D-Day landing look like a cake walk.
The Japanese General in charge of the island's defense was a tactical genius, and they all understood the ultra-importance of that small island to the defense of Japan.
Every Japanese soldier was charged with killing at least 10 Americans. If he did this, it was considered he had done his duty before he died.

They showed a 3-dimensional drawing of the tunnel system that the General has designed and built. There was a reason that the Marines were basically allowed to hit the beach with little relative resistance.

Will have to get the book.
