Monitor 10Bs or 10Cs I reckon. Throw in the silk replacement tweeters and you've got an excellent pair of speakers, imo.

They are no good at all - very poor model. You should send them to me so I can properly dispose of them as I am a certified waste management professional. I will split the shipping with you.

but, how much to pay considering the replacement of the tweeter?
I can get them for $50, is that too much or a fair price? And, they're local! no shipping! -

In all seriousness, that should be a very good price.
Tell us about the rest of your system and how you would like to use them - home theater, music?
Depending on your tastes, you may not want to replace the tweeters.
And, welcome to the forum - stick around and you will learn a lot! -
I'm not too sure about the build date of these but think I remember them from the mid 80's.
Music of course!
I have ALOT of vintage SS gear! Yamaha CA-2010 & CT- 1010, Sansui BA-F1/CA-F1, Kenwood KA-9150 & KT-9900, Yamaha B-2 & C-2a (both OOC!) Pioneer SA-9500 II (bad PS cap) & TX 9500 II and a BUNCH of other tuners. My vintage speakers are a set of ADS L710's, Pioneer HPM 100's (anyone got a spare midrange?) and my baby's, a set of IMF TLS 50 II's. I am also in the process of reconing 3 sets of JBL's. 1 pr L26, 1 L100S titanium (made for the military market) and a soon to be beautiful again set of L100t in the piano black laquer. -

Model 10's, no B or C anywhere. Serial numbers 178539 &178542. The tweeters say silver coil dome.
I'm running these out int the garage right now with a Kenwood KA-8100 integrated amp.
Right now they are only about 4 feet apart but I already think that these may have a really nice soundstage once I get more space between them.
What are the strong/weak points of this speaker. -
I picked up a pair of 10-B's back in June or July from a local seller. They are in absoulute near new condition and had the original boxes. I paid $200 for the pair which may be a little high but they were local, in excellent shape, and most importantly I wanted them. I remember seeing these when I was in my late teens or early 20's and wanting a pair then but couldn't afford them at the time. The only complaint I have with them is they don't image as well as the speakers I was using at the time- Boston Accoustics VR-M60's. The 10's are better with a wider soundstage and play deeper and louder than the BA's though. I have not replaced the tweeters as I don't have a problem with the way the originals sound but may try it at some point.
I also bought a pair of SDA2's 6-8 weeks ago that I am really loving. My first few days with them I was not sure I cared for the SDA effect but after gettting them positioned right they are what I have left hooked up. -
cool simm.. enjoy.. if you get the chance.. replace the tweeters in the 10's if they are the SL2000 silver coil dome.. they sound ok with the Sl2000, but they are harsh sounding to nearly everyone who has heard the SL2000 tweeters.
congrats on your SDA2's. do you have the SDA cable between them? face them straight out.. no toe in on SDA's are needed. how far apart do you have yours? I say a minimum of 6 ft from each other is best for SDA's.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Strong points - good musical, solid low end. Easy to drive, but at the same time can handle a lot of clean power.
Weak points - smearing in the midrange, and although they can throw a decent sized soundstage - placement within that stage leaves a lot to be desired.

Danger Boy- the 10's do have the SL2000 silver coil dome tweeter now. I had to make a cable for my SDA-2's. It was the pin/pin connection. I have them about 9' apart and sit about 8' back. They are facing directly ahead. I really like them. They have the same tweeter as my Monitor 10's.
