LSi9 bi-amp'd on Rotel 5x120 RMB-1075 Amp (UPDATE)

The saga continues.... just kidding.

My g/f was out shopping with friends so I had about an hour to listen to it at decent volumes. Those who followed my other threads, the 2x70w Rotel was reporting clipping at pretty loud levels so for peace of mind I upgraded. I decided I was going to get the LSiC so I looked for a 3 channel amp and settled for a 5.

I bi-amped four of the channels into my two LSi9s and even called Rotel to determine if the amp could constantly deliver 120w to all four channels simultaneously. They assured me it could and that the power supply built-in is designed for simultaneous 5 channel 120w and that it has reserve power beyond 120w but that they rate very conservatively.

Well anyways, last night I was listening at 4-5db higher than when clipping began on the 2x70 solution. No clipping was reported on any of the four channels being used. That was as high as I wanted to go as it started getting too loud for the LSi9s, too loud for my room, and too loud for my ears.

Long story short, it appears this is enough power and that the room and listener are giving out before the amp. I felt that the speakers were starting to degrade in performance. I think that's beyond their efficiency as stated here. At 3-4 db lower it still sounded brilliant and I know the amp is having no issues at those levels since it wasn't reporting clipping at more than double the draw. Like people have said here, the LSi9 is not designed for super loud, but more for super clean. The Rotel has no problem pushing them to what I think is their max efficient volume level, and it sounds great in doing so.

Thanks for all the help from everyone on here.

I think they get-up-and-boogie quite well actually. Youu just don't hear all that strain and distortion. If you leave the tone nuetral, they'll play plenty loud.
