Upgrading to Lsi

Well, I got my first set of Lsi's today. Thanks to McLoki I recv. a very nice set of Lsi-7's at a great price. I have them as my fronts right now. The sound is truly awsome. I ordered an Lsic today also. This is part of my total upgrade plan. I will either buy Lsi-9's for the front and move the 7's to the surrounds or may just purchase another set of 7's and run them at all four corners. If anyone has some input on this I would be greatful. Although I have more upgrades in mind they will have to wait until after christmas.

Cool. I'm pretty sure I'm inheriting a pair of Lsi 9's. What size stands are you using or planning on using for your 9's?

Glad you are liking them.

Since you are not planning to upgrade to a separate amp in the near future, my vote is to get another good deal on another set of LSi7's and run them in all four corners. This is the setup I had for a year and I really liked it.

Even those who like the 9's over the 7's may like the 7's more when run from an AVR (especially when their will be 5 lsi speakers run from the AVR).

When you upgrade to a separate amp, you can move the extra set of 7's to surround back position in a 7.1 config or just sell them. (buying used, you should be able to get out of them what you paid or close to it)

I would not get the 9's or the 15's without an amp - with an amp I would listen to both and decide from there which you like.

I am sure your AVR will run the 9's up front, but the benefits of the additional driver will be lessened by the increased load on your reciever.

Sound quality and budget wise (keeping your current system in mind) I would go all LSi7's.

Also a warning about the LSi's as surrounds. If you are mounting them to the wall, don't use the mounting plate on the LSi7. The LSi7's mounting plate will get all scratched up and they will not sound as good as they should.

I have my LSi's mounted with Btech-77 speaker stands purchased from crutchfield and I hightly recommend them. (you can see them in my system showcase - click on the quote in my sig to get there)

Mike - wow, stop by sometime. I am in washington (near peoria) probly only about a 1/2 hour away (ok - maybe 45min).

Washinton is really close! My wife goes to Peoria all the time to visit a friend, I could always run that way sometime.

Unfortunately, I'm in Iraq for the moment and won't see the state side until Feb. We'll definetly have to hook up.

Your setup is similar to mine, besides I'm using 15's as surrounds. I'll be running them off of two Monster MPA 3250 amps.

I need to stay with bookshelf's due to room. I think I am going to get another set of 7's to replace the M30's for now. I have found a few stes from 250 to 350 used. Down the road when I buy an amp I will add the 9's. Thanks for everything. Next I'm going to take on building a new sub. I'm looking forward to the challange.
