Have not looked into audio in awhile. I always like the way the old 3800sx performed and have thought about having it rebuilt. But I figure the new stuff must be better. I was looking at a denon DRA697ci. Think it would do the old rt2000p justice. Still love the speakers. Or should I look at more the amp and pre-amp route? Really only want to spend about $600. Also I only liisten to music on this system. Any help would be great.

Many of the older Pioneer receivers can be rebuilt and upgraded without much trouble and expense. If you have a good electronics repair shop in your area I would check into the cost of that. Others can chime in on if the SX3800 is considered a keeper sound quality wise, however many of the older receivers have great sound. I have a Marantz 2270 that has been rebuilt and upgraded and sounds wonderful!DKG999

check into having it repaired.. could just be a simple fix.. but a newer more powerful one would do wonders for those RT2000P'sPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the outlaw2150 but reallly not sure when they will ship again, seems like it has been awhile. The denon I can get right away. Guess I'll have to flip a coin. Although if the outlaw were to begin shipping very soon I'd go for it. Oh, and I did find a guy inn CO that would rebuild the pioneer for around $200. May do that as well.

cfrizz, you sound like you may have a 2150? Or have listened to one If so, is it worth the wait or just go elsewhere.

Well, I ordered an Outlaw 2150. Hopefully it won't take too long. Growing a little tired of listening to my travel set up.

Hi. I don't have the Outlaw 2150, but I do know that they are a good company with CS second only to Polk Audio!
Congrats on your purchase & I hope it arrives soon.
When you get it & have had a chance to listen, come back & give us a review!!!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Outlaw Audio customer service is excellent as is Polk Audio's. One service rep from Outlaw even called to help a guy out with a problem after work hours, and from his home on his own time.
Now that's great service!!PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
