Antenna Wire

Hello,
Because of interferance from other wires, I decided to remove my indoor FM antenna and hook up my receiver to my outside tv antenna. Radio stations are now coming in clearer. To accomplish this, I used a tv splitter which is now split between the tv and the receiver. I used part of the original antenna wire from the splitter to the antenna imput of the receiver. This wire is very thin (about 24 wire guage).
My question is: Does wire size make a differance for antenna wire for short runs of about 3 to 4 feet. I think I should use heavier wire. I have a roll of #20 guage that I could use.

I don't know if it matters or not. If it aint' broke...

Probably not, but it's going to bug you until you do. Use the 20 gauge and satisfy yourself.

I think this thin wire will break in the future from repeated movement of the receiver for cleaning and dusting. The length of the wire is barely enough to allow me to turn the receiver around 90 degrees to access the back of it. The flat 300 ohm antenna wire that is available has thin conductors and I just wondered if there is a reason for it besides cheaper to make.
So unless someone else chimes in, I'll wait until it breaks, then install a heavier wire and see what happens.
