Choosing speakers and layout
Im hoping to get some expert opinions on re-doing my speaker system.
I mostly use my system for HDTV and some DVDs. I had a Harmon Kardon 510 that hooked up to a Polk RM6000 system. I liked the sound, but the 510 died. So, I upgraded the AVR to a Denon 3806. Can anyone suggest a speaker system to compliment the 3806 that could be hidden? All equipment is in another room and since the Denon is can utilize a 7.1 system, Im thinking of ceiling speakers above the sofa and love seat and possibly as rear speakers.
As for the room, its 23x17x9H but the speaker layout doesnt exactly line up with these dimensions. The front wall has a plasma and is 19' with center speaker under the plasma and front speakers on outer most part of the wall (all on a shelf about chest high listening level. The rear speakers are on the back floor (yup, on the floor). The listeners are on the sides of the room about 12' from the plasma.
Id appreciate any expert help or suggestions..
Room 17x23x9
Fujitsu 4220 (42 Plasma)
Denon 3806 (AVR)
Polk RM6000
Panasonic ES45V (DVD/VCR)
DirecTv HR-10-250 (HD receiver)

maybe look into the surroundbar, then 2 cieling mounted speakers for 6th and 7th channel. Oddly enough, I am demoing the surround bar now and am very impressed with it (and my theater is certainly no slouch). that Denon you got should be plenty to get good sound out of the bar. one speaker, 5 channels. mount it on the front wall by the tv, and your done. not flush mounted perhaps, but certainly non intrusive. and impressive sound to bootLiving Room 2 Channel -
