Help with MOMO 6x9 decision

I have an 07 corvette. Stock system has 5.25 in the rear, 3.5s and 8'' woofers in the doors. My current config is:
head unit: alpine 18W RMS
rear: JL 5.25 VR co-axial with external cross
front: JL 3.5 XR co-axial (powered by head unit);
Door: stock 8" paper woofer
Amp: Eclipse 75Wx4 RMS (powers 5.25s and 8" stock woofer)
I REALLY don't want to add a sub because I want to keep the clean look but my remaining stock 8" woofers sound horrible. So I bought Polk 6x9 MOMOs to replace them. I haven't installed yet so before i do.....
Questions
1. I am a beginner (not an audiophile). Do the momo 6x9s have quality sound? I have heard so much "friends don't let friends by 6x9"
I am paranoid. I could use Polk DB 6.5 components but I know i will need a sub for sure.
2. If I MUST add a sub will I be dissapointed i have Momo 6x9s in the door or will i have to replace them with 6.5s.

Well, I didn't get any feedback so I went ahead and installed the 6x9s. They sound awesome. I am sold on Polk.
