I have a setup in the family room that includes 4 Deftech Cinema 80s, a matching ProCenter and a Velodyne minivee. I had originally purchased them (the Deftechs) as rear surrounds and presence speakers for my main setup but they didn't match with my RTi setup. However, in the small-ish family room, they sound suprisingly nice! I'm not thrilled with the "matching" center though, pink noise test tones sound decidely different than from the "matching" fronts and surrounds. Not much of a match. Still, setup with minimal expections and a mid range AVR, they sound better than expected.HT/music rig

LSi9 will be a similar sound, but overall better.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Cool thanks for the insight are you comparing the LSI9's with the PM 500's?? just wonderingChicomorales:)

No, the 9 is slightly better.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

great thanks for the assistance. will the rxv659 power the rti8 or rti6 ok???Chicomorales:)

RTi6s will be fine, and RTi8s should be okay. The 8s probably wouldn't mind a little more power, but it's all good.
As for DefTech, I just bought a pair of BP2006 SuperTowers. I used to sell them, and was very pleased with them. We'll see if I like it in my setup as much as I liked them on the sales floor. -
Dane have you heard the pm 500 well i guess obviously tell me how your opinions on their soundstage and imaging. are they equally as good for music as ht and what do they retail for in the us roughly???Chicomorales:)

We had a PM500 setup right in the middle of sales floor, and unfortunately the sound field was ruined by lots of other equipment. I can't give you a fair opinion on them because of that, as well as the fact that we didn't have a comparable system to contrast.
-
So what are the retailing for and have you heard anything about them???Chicomorales:)

the PM500...
They retail for around* 900 a pair...
They use drivers from recent (not current) BP2000 series. I believe it was the BP2006... which utilized two 4.25" midbasses per speaker in a bipolar setup...
The PM series utilizes a 1" thick enclosure made of Medite, which is denser than MDF due to its glue which is much stronger than the Fluemildgashite used in regular MDF. Its internal bracing is next to none.
It uses a side firing 8" subwoofer. It is slot loaded, the midbass is in a seperate enclosure within the speaker cabinet. The subwoofer itself by trade is on the boomy side... and is quite limited in extention and output due to its 150 watt amp...
The tweeter used is the same tweeter used in the old BP2000 line up, as well as the current BP tower line (passive, BP10B, etc) -- it is a fairly detailed tweeter, fairly laid back...
Good staging, etc etc...
Overall, good for people that wont have a sub or room for one, need small speakers - an office, apartments, killer surrounds, etc...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
kewl thanks for the info i'll see if the local dealor with have a pair to listen to i was considering them cause on the size of my flat is small and i was thinking about well not gettting a sub just yet even though it appears i'll need oneChicomorales:)
