I have heard the Klipsch 82.
What about them?Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
how do they sound for hifi mostly and some stereo???Chicomorales:)
-
would a RX-v659 be enough to power them and how would you compare them to a pair of rti8'sChicomorales:)
-
They sound ok... a little veiled in the midrange region though.
But I'm comparing it to my system and another speaker that was next to it.... which shall remain unnamed until you ask me.
Pretty unfair comparison if you ask me... but that was my impression of the 82 and the bigger 83.
Ok imaging... somewhat ok midrange.... somewhat ok bass.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
How they compare to the RTi8?
Hooh.... that's a difficult one... I didnt hear them side by side. If I were to take a pick, I would say the Klipsch 82 is very even with the RTi8. However, that said, I would pick the Klipsch 82.
A receiver like the Yamaha you mentioned should be enough to power it, the Klipsch are very efficient. However, as with anything, separates would improve the performance.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
well for know i would was think about going with the yammieChicomorales:)

but they have a pre-out so iwas think of getting a QSC amp to power themChicomorales:)

Compared them unfairly to speakers beyond the 82's league... so it's not a fair comparison.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

It's not a fair comparison... so my perceptions were skewed at the time. But that's what I got out of the audition. If I auditioned it with lower gear, I would probably have a different opinion.
Sorry.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -

Never heard the DT... sorry.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
np are the klipsch subs any good??? was intrested in svs but no dealor here and the shipping is really highChicomorales:)

i've never heard good things about the polk subs but intrested in the rti6 for surroundsChicomorales:)

It is ok to put more than one thought per post.
-
Right?
-
thanks for the observation??? anyone else heard the rf-82's and which model from polk would you compare them fairly with them???Chicomorales:)
-
I have the RF-35. Previous model before being discontinued and replaced by the 82.
Go give them a demo. The Klipsch sound is not for everybody. -

Seriously, you can't really compare Polk to Klipsch. They sound totally different from eachother. I have the Klipsch, Polk RT5, 15i, 800i (sold them cause I needed $), and LSi9. I like my Klipsch more, but you HAVE to like their kind of sound to enjoy them.
The RF series, IMO, is a step above the RT line. I know, I said you can't really compare them, but sound quality wise, it's better. Klipsch are very efficient and can reveal a weak component in the audio chain very easily. -
Hey thanks alot! I was hearing and personally i have experienced that. Its not fair to compare some lines that true. since well I had a pair of the rf-25's some kind the RF are brighti guess thats due to the horn/tweeter. But I love how the reproduce music. But they lack in the lower end. I find the polks sound nice. But I really love the design its quality and study cna't beat that would veneer. Those RF have these cheap plastic feet hate those. If I were to get the RF would the a yamaha rx-v659 be enough You said the are effecient that I know!!! or what about the denon avr 2307ci which is similair to the rxv I was told that its better to pair the denon with them. And finally this kinda long and rambling what about a sub i'm not impressed with the polk. I dont here much positive reviews on them I cant my hands on a SVS down here and the shipping will kill me. sam efor HSU i'm getting a pair of rti6's so i have to see how much those will cost with the shipping. But are klipsch subs any good i had a rw10 was so so.....or even polk or are their any companies in the states that will ship to the caribbean???Chicomorales:)

Yeah, the RT line is definitely better when it comes to build quality. I've actually done mods to my RF's to increase weight and dampen the box. Each speaker received about 10 lbs of extra weight.
Since you owned the 25's before, did you notice the flimsy plastic moldings on the front? I found out it colored the sound. If you remove them, there are a lot of empty spaces where the outer part of the plastic molding meets the cabinet. I filled them up with caulk and this really improved the overall sound.
Do you plan to use the speakers for home theatre or music? A nice 2ch integrated amp can really tame down the highs while increasing dynamics/slam. I just feel they don't mate well with mid level home theatre receivers for music. For home theater, I"d be completely satisfied, but no way for music.
I don't feel any of the towers you mentioned need a sub to be enjoyable. Bass and control on any speaker will increase dramatically when you step up to seperates/integrated units.
You'll probably get other recommendations for subs. Both companies are not popular for their subs on this forum.
I've never purchased big items like that over the net, but I"m sure other members can give you internet dealers that will ship to the Caribbean. -
Intresting........... I was was actually using them mainly for music more than anything. the Denon and the rxv659 that I was looking at I would use them for more pre/out and get an amp to power. Them have you heard of qsc(rmx850) i was planning on using one of them for that.Chicomorales:)
-
Sorry, I've never heard of qsc.
It's not just the amp that need to be of better quality for what you're looking for. Yes, you will increase overall quality but the amplifier will only amplify what the pre section on the receiver is feeding it.
Receivers have more noise because of their more complex circuitry and a good amp may really reveal this. So, there's a chance that your noise level will increase with an outboard amp.
If the system is going to be used mainly for music, why not sell the receiver and get a 2ch pre amp? This is the best way to go, IMO. -
Well i'm have not bought the receiver yet. I was looking for a compromise as opposed to getting a dedicated 2 channel setup. Plus space contraints are also an issue. So i'm kinda looking for the best of both worlds so to speak which means making a trade-off.Chicomorales:)

What kinda 2ch pre amp would you reccomend?? lets say under $500 budget if thats possible. Would a pre/amp have a tuner???Chicomorales:) -
If space is an issue, you can go for an integrated amp.
For under $500, you could look for some used pre amps. Personally, I'd go with a tube pre amp. Some pre amps have tuners but 99% of them won't.
There are a lot of good quality pre amps (used) under $500. Check the Flea Market forum on here. Once in a while, a very good pre will come up for sale.
There are members in here who have heard and had experience with a lot of pre amps. You'll have better luck starting a new thread on pre amp recommendations.
