just saw one on ebay, and the guts to this thing are ridiculous. I'm not knowledgable at all when it comes to vintage H/K gear. Anyone familiar with this unit? Or the Citations in general?

Yes, it's a great amp. My friend had one in his rig years ago. Nice and powerful, not to mention cool-looking with the led's. If you can get it for around $400 or less it would be a good buy. Btw, that seller has a good reputation.

The Citation was a big deal back in the 70's. I listened to them in demo rooms
quite a bit. But you're dealing with a 30 year old amp and with the issues that come with it. The ones that have been rehabed are bringing the same money as newer amps in the same wattage/quality range.
Old geezers my age are bidding up these older pieces to too high prices.

Ad says still has original Mallory caps. 30 year old caps=nightmare. Certainly worth considering but it's pretty much topped out already at $300. Gear this old deserves to be refurbed, since it hasn't, probably not a good deal.

Back in the day, they laid a fork over the speaker terminals and got sound. Nice amp but probably needs rebuilding.>
