The first long, in-depth comparison reviews on AVS, while still complaining about the price, appear to say that the Panny has much better PQ than the Sammy. And on comparable titles, it is comparable to HD-DVD.

Seems to show that Sony really screwed up on the quality of the first releases from their movie vaults. Or maybe other studios just shoot better PQ movies in the first place.

It should be interesting with the first releases of BD-50 discs to see if they can actually improve on HD-DVD quality.

I'm still in the 'waiting until the dust settles' camp before actually buying a stand alone player. But I think the competition between these two camps pounding away at each other might actually give us much better players when the fight is over.

That is, if people don't end up just sitting out the mess and killing both formats...;)
