What to upgrade next...

Ok.
If you were me, what would you upgrade next?
I personally want to step up to a nice SVS. But I've also considered picking up a solid 2-channel amp for my RTi8's. Then again, I could also use a good DVD player. And a great Widescreen HDTV would be on the menu as well
So if it were you, what would be your next upgrade?
I'm curious to know...
Thanks.

The SVS DEFINITELY!!!!!! That's your missing link; your setup is very similar to mine (except I have the 3803 and different surrounds); GET THE SVS--GET THE SVS--GET THE SVS!!!!!!
You'll get a huge improvement with the SVS; the rest can wait; trust me._________________________________________________

I'd say its a toss up between better amplification for the fronts and the SVS. That may change, however, when I fire up my PB12+ for the first time tomorrow. I found more and better power to my RTi10 fronts made a HUGE difference. But its a toss up.HT/music rig

No toss up with the RTi8's; maybe the 10's will show a significant difference with external amplification in the lows, but the 8's won't.....MrNightly needs more BASS; get an SVS._________________________________________________

hmm... not so cut and dry for me. What size TV are you using now for your HT? If it is a 12", then I would go for the bigger presentation, especially during football season. If your at 32"+, then I would recommend the SVS to give your system a punch.
2-channel amp for your setup is going to give you a minimum sonic difference. Biggest impact is that Boom in the Basket from the SVS!Holydoc (Home Theatre Lover)

Ok, now you've all got me thinking... When I bought my Velo sub I didn't know anything about higher end HT or SVS, but I demoed the Velo Vs the Polk Subs (Psw10) . The Velo blew the Polk subs to pieces, but I realize it isn't as good as an SVS.
How much more difficult does the choice become now between an amp and a better sub? I had myself convinced to upgrade to an external amp at least for the RTi70's in the next couple months...and now you got me thinking.HT

Mr. Nightly I've added a new AVR, upgraded all my speaker from an R setup to a RTi setup, added 7 channel amp, HD DVD player, and the SVS in that order all in the last year and a half. if I had it to do all over again the SVS would be by far be the first thing I'd upgade. Nothing I've done has had more of impact on my system than the SVS, trust me get the sub!Casey

I would get an amp first, then the sub.
By the way, I owned a ported SVS and sold it and bought a sealed Velodyn HGS-15X and it was much much better (but more expensive). Ask yourself a question, do you want LOTS of loud powerfull bass (get SVS), or do you want clean accurate bass with a flat frequecy response (get a sealed Velodyne sub).Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture. -
If it was me I would get rid of the Denon and get an Outlaw Audio 990 pre/pro & 7700 7-channel amp combo. Then upgrade to the LSi series starting with the 15's and so on and so on. Finish the whole LSi series THEN upgrade to the good DVD player and finally the SVS PB12-Ultra/2
But that's just me. Look at my signature and you can tell I dont have GREAT by far.Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

Ha... ya, I've got a bachelors party I'm hosting at my house Saturday... Care to let me "Borrow" Both of those subs to help blow it up? Heheheh..
Hmmm, seems that the Bass might be lacking in my HT. I've gotten so used to crackly psw10 bass, I don't know if there is anyway I can move to pure ultra clean bass. Ya right.
See the problem with me is, (Ok, one of the problems with me ) that I hate to buy small and upgrade later. I just want to buy big and stay big ya know? My 3805 was the very first piece of equipment I had every purchased. I just don't know if I'll be satisfied with those little SVS's... The smallest I think I really want to go is the PB12-plus... Just tell me I'd be improving my HT with a little one.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

Nah, I've got a decent 30" Widescreen JVC tv. Not HD or anything fancy like that, but it's got awesome colors! Black BLACK's and great detail (Thanks to my new component cables.)
I've got my eye on the new SONY SXRD... but that will cost a pretty penny that I don't have quite yet!!!

Look at my system. The best thing I ever did was build my own sub and save about $400+. If I were you I would get or build a Sub. The digital drive velodines are freaken awsome but I do not have $1000+ just hanging around for a cube that sits in a corner and does nothing but make the house vibrate off the pad.Harman Kardon AVR635

I will second this. i looked into this, but decided just to spend the money on the velodine digital drive. But honestly, if you have the time and tools, just build your own sealed sub. At first, i went down the SVS road, and it is a very nice upgrade, but if you can build a nice sealed sub at the same price, it will be well worth it. With the SVS no matter where i put it, i could always tell when my sub was going off. Everyone was like, yea your sub is putting out some killer bass. It shook the house, but it was unnatural. With a nice sealed sub, the house still shakes, but now I wonder if it is comming from outside or what. Really, get a good sealed sub and you will be wondering if a plane outside is about to crash on your house, or if there is a huge truck that just pulled into your driveway.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

Everyone raves about SVS on here. Everything I read about them states that they are great for HT. But what about music? Are they as good for music as they are for HT?Michael
