Center channel speaker behind curtains

My screen is mounted on a false wall covered with very thin black curtains. My Polk center channel speaker must be mounted below the screen (about 18 inches from the floor) with the curtains covering the front of the speaker. I have removed the grill. Do I need to somehow boost the treble to compensate for the curtains? I have boosted the volume by one degree. Is there some type of separate equalizer I could purchase to be used solely for the center channel speaker?

Thin sheer curtains will be fine even if just for the center channel to blend end with the rest of the front stage. To check your sound level just calibrate with an SPL meter.
