Quick question; is the Adcom GFA-5500 common ground?

Thanks,

I wouldn't know...the GFA-555 is, but that don't necessarily mean anything; grab a multimeter and measure resistance between the two negative posts; that should tell you. If result is 0 ohm, then you have common ground.

I believe that it is not a common ground amplifier
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

    HT Trookie,

When you measure the amp should the power be on or off. And whats a good scale to put it on. I have a little cheapie analog meter from radio shack.

    Thanks

I don't think it make a difference, but I would do it with the power off. If an amp is a common ground then it will be around 0 ohm.

What Steve...Joe said; Start with the higher scale if you have more than one option (common sense...); If measure is zero, it won't matter.

NO it is NOT common ground. It has secondary windings. Check with ADCOM to be sure but I'm pretty positive the negative terminals can be tied together to be used with SDA's that need a common ground amp.

FYI, if you run SDA's that require a common ground and the amp isn't common ground you will eventually fry the amp and possibly the speaks.
