Polk SDA 1B
Someone here in the island's is selling SDA 1B's for $500. Is this a fair price? Exactly what do they look like how big and how many drivers. If anyone has any pics please post them.
Thanks Jockos

thats the high end of fair in my eyes, they better be in good shape for that price though. it will have 2 tweeters (one on top of the other) with four 6 1/2" midbass drivers underneath, then a 12" passive radiator beneath the midbass drivers. also make sure there is an interconnect (the wire that runs between the speakers for the sda effect, for that price, it had better be there!)
I doubt he has them, but just to note.....if he has the upgraded silk tweets inplace of the original sl2000's, that makes that price more than fair. the tweets will be black instead of silver.
if the speaks look a little rough, try to talk him down a little. they are definitly a speaker worth owning, and I miss mine. make sure you have a common ground amp to drive them thoughLiving Room 2 Channel -

Is the adcom GFA 5500 common ground?

Checked out the speaker today. The cabinets are pretty good except 1 corner on the lower right rear is dinged. Also the pedestal on that same speaker has the vinyl veneer dinged on 3 corners. All the drivers look good. The foam edge on the right passive radiator looks like the glue came alittle undone on a small portion of the edge. Not sure of the construction of that driver but is there another material behind the foam; and the foam is glued to the surface? He has the cable and the grills are perfect. What would be a fair price? Also are these superior to the LSI 15's or just different sounding?
Thanks Jockos -
I would definitly stay with the 500 bucks is the high side of normal opinion, but still fair none the less. If I really wanted to try SDA and never did, I might very well pay it.
the Adcom common ground? I'm pretty sure it is, but send an email to adcom just to be safe. some others here might know, so ask maybe in the electronics section.
better than the LSi 15? that will trigger a mad debate, while I like the LSi15 better (hence why I still own it, and not the SDA 1B), there are MANY here that would disagree with me whole heartedly. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said different. I would say that, in your audio travels, you should experience both.Living Room 2 Channel -

p.s., dont worry about the passive radiator, its cosmetic and from what I can tell will not effect sound. use it as a bargaining chip perhaps? along with the dings in the cabinetLiving Room 2 Channel -

Hi Jockos -
Bluebook on those is about $441, so to echo Lou, $500 is on the high side of fair - especially with the dings.
The puckering on the passives should not make any sonic difference (again as Lou said). Mine have the same issue and it hasn't really bothered me a bit.
Cheers!
