Hey folks,

I'm brand new here. i just bought a pair of sds 1.2 AND pair of MONITOR 10 speakers along with 2 adcom GFA-545 power amps, and adcom GTP-500 reciever. I bought the whole system at auction, and I have never wired up gear like this before. I'm looking for any advice on how to best run this system (and make sure I don't damage anything in the process!!). I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom!

Are you planning on using these speakers together in a HT setup or as separate 2 channel setups?

I'd start out with a two channel stereo system first using the 1.2's. It's pretty basic to get started. CD player to the receiver to the power amp to the speakers. You need at least 4 interconnects for the signal and two runs of speaker cable. If you don't have a CD player you can pick one up cheaply.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do have the adcom GDC-575 cd player as well. Would you run the 1.2s through one GFA-545 and the monitor 10s through the other? Thats what I would guess, this probably sounds real basic, but I've never had a separate compnent system before, much less 2 separate power amps, :) just a powered receiver.

What kind of prices did you pay for the gear? I am a big fan of auctions and buy and sell stuff all the time. I've picked up some nice gear over the years although its sporadic.

you probably won't believe this, but I picked up the 1.2s, the monitor 10s, the 2 adcom power amps, the adcom cd player, and a Rotel cassete deck all for $500 at auction. I'm no expert, and i have not priced this gear, but to me it looked like a steal.

    Holy crap...

You have no idea how good of a deal you just got I bet! ;)

    LOL

    Congrats!

If those 1.2 are in good-great shape, probally could turn around and sell them for 3 times the price you paid!

If you ever feel you've become too material, I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands ;)

Out of curiosity, did you get the crossover cable with them as well? Because if you didn't.... you are missing out in a way that can only be heard to understand.

There is a black cable that seems to connect between the 1.2 pair - is that the crossover cable?
