And so, the romance ends...

As most of you (if not all) know, the 9s were my gateway to hi-end audio. They started it all. It was the first time I melted, the first time my jaw dropped, the first time I thought I found THE speaker.
I lived happily with the 9s (and the 7s) for quite some time, atleast a year. Then I had this weird idea of leaving the HT scene and going 2 channel. Well, I sold all the LSi and moved ahead. However, there was this lingering feeling that I was missing the LSi9 sound.
So, several years later, I decided to jump on an opportunity to get the 9s for relatively cheap and I brought them home.
This time, I powered the 9s with everything I got. A far better amplification and source anchored the 9s like no other. I had unlimited power at my disposal and I powered the 9s to audio heights I never heard it do before. Definitely do not take the Tweeter demo of the 9s seriously... it's so far removed from the potential of the 9s, it's not even funny.
Anyway, I stuck around the 9s for a few weeks and I was going to use it as my PC speakers. However, I got this zany idea to bring back the Summits to my room... and the rest is history.... again.
So, the 9s are leaving me now... for good this time as my eBay auction had just ended with a BIN. Our little reunion was short, but SWEET. It was akin to meeting an old friend... after losing contact.
The 9s hold a special place in my audio heart and I will never forget these speakers. These were the first hi-end speakers I owned, and I was proud as heck to own them.
Everytime I go to an audio shop and if I see the 9s, I always go towards them and remove both grills... and I leave them off. It's a little ritual that I noticed I do unconsciously... but I always do without fail.
Goodbye my 9s.... may your new owner give you much much much audio love. Bring him to nirvana, baby.
So as a toast, I'm playing the 9s all day and leaving the Summits unhooked.
Show Club Polk what you got!
And FYI, Zero (Sean) knows exactly how I feel... .

Joey... this is actually quite touching. I hope every speaker in your audio travels provides you with the same bittersweet ritual of discovery and passing. That's what it's all about in my opinion.
That being said... where are you looking next in the amplification and/or source department?:DI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

I know you've been ragged before, but you have to be the only guy with a set of $11,000 speakers next to a $5.00 amp stand. Surprised the amp hasn't set that baby on fire. Amp is kinda smallish, don't you think:DUNIVERA
