This multi-channel crap is confusing . . . what cable, how many, huh?

Ok so I just bought my pioneer Elite DV-46AV, right. I plan on getting coax cables for the multi-channel analog, but in the meantime, I'm using a Toslink cable to deliver sound to my receiver. The problem is that I can't figure out why my Xbox using the same cable and CD delivers stereo to my L and R speakers as well as my sub, but the Pioneer does not. Anyone got any suggestions? I want stereo with the sub on. How can I make this possible?

You have to go into your receiver and change the settings. Review the manual.
