Should I upgrade my PSW303?

I was at Tweeter the other day and they said if I take my PSW303 back in + $130, I can get the PSW404. Thing is, when I auditioned them, I really didn't hear any difference at all.

My HT room is about 16 feet x 30 feet.

Is it worth the $130 extra to go from a 303 to a 404?

BTW, my AVR is a Denon AVR-1706.

If you didn't hear any difference then you might feel the same disapointment after you buy them and take them home. Go with your gut. Upgrade to a sub that gets you excited and puts a fat grin on your face. Don't be afraid to go with a non-Polk sub.

The 303 is pretty amazing for it's size however in a room that size if you want to achieve anywhere near reference levels that poor sub is going to go up in smoke. The 404 will be capable of higher levels without having to work as hard.

Also as said above. Don't be afraid to look elsewhere for a sub. Polk isn't known for having the most bang for the buck in this category. Not that they are bad, it just seems that some have found more for the same money in other brands. Seems some of the favorites are SVS, HSU, Velodyne, etc....

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Good points made. At Tweeter the only one that really sounded different than my 303 was the 505, that one put that grin on my face.

Its all my best friend's fault, he got a PSW1000 and my 303 just isn't sounding the same ever since :)

I've got that same sub, and I'll admit that the sucker is loud, but -3db at 30hz is shameful. I'll be upgrading one of these days.
