where did the bass go?

Quick Question,
I just bought a CSi5 and an RT6 for the 2 front speakers, they sound really good, I was wiring the fronts thru the subwoofer, without using the subwoofer cable, just like the polk manual says, well I went out and bought and a subwoofer cable so I could run thru my reciever. Now it seems like there is very little bass at all, I am using a subwoofer from the RM 6750, I know it doesn't really match the qualily of the brother speakers, but it was working before, has anyone had this problem?? :o:o

Send me a signed guitar, I'll come up and configure your system.

How is everything hooked up now, sub via a single rca cable and speakers wired directly to the receiver? If so, check your settings on your avr, make sure subwoofer is set to yes / on - and play with the crossover settings for your other speakers (I'd start around 60Hz and go from there).

Welcome to the board, and thanks for choosing Polk Audio.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    I will sign your guitar

I hooked up right, I set the sub to yes on the reciever, all speakers were set to small. crossover was to 80 hertz. The cables are set up corretly.. I spent alot of money on a subwoofer cabler(MIT), I will mess around with it tomorrow I guess...

is the subwoofer plugged into the wall outlet? are you getting any sound at all from the subwoofer?

sounds like you do have it wired the right way. I'm with Russ.. i think you may have a setting wrong. is the bass knob turned way down on your receiver?

On the back of that subwoofer is there a volume knob? turn it up if there is.

I don't know why Polk insists on complicating such a simple procedure. Most receivers come with a dedicated input for subs. One cable to from sub to receiver, set to 80 all speakers to small & sub to yes.

Simple, clean & easy. Instead they want speaker wire up the wazoo to everything! If you've got 5 speakers that's more than enough wire!
