The Caparo

In my November issue of Motor Trend, there is one page set aside to discuss Gordon Murray's Caparo. (Gordon Murray was the force behind the McLaren F1.) I just can't comprehend such a car as the Caparo. No, of course I can't comprehend it. I can't even fathom it. I really can't. You've got the world of 540ci blown and injected big blocks, ripping up tarmac at idle they're so fierce, and you've got mega-revving little four-bangers that can zip down the track, too. But now you've got this: a 2.4 liter supercharged V8 that makes 480hp at 10,500rpm. I *cannot* fathom an engine like that. Not even my imagination can lead me to some preconceived notion of what it may be like. I'm clueless. (Wanna quote that gain, Brett? ) I'm shocked. I'm in disbelief. I'm in awe. I want to see/hear one!!
Also, as the article points out, it does 0-60 in 2.5, 0-100 in 5.5, and can pull up to 3g during cornering and braking. Oh, and it only weighs 1040 pounds dry. That's double the horsepower to weight ratio of the Bugatti Veyron, for a third the price: $312,000. And the US distributor is in Atlanta, GA...I think I'm going to have to take a trip to GA!!
Anyhoo, to save you from having read any more of my writing...here's the article I scanned out of Motor Trend.

Im just not that impressed with cars like that. Yeah theyre fast but so are Indy cars.
I prefer super cars like the Viper, Z06 and the likes. Cars thatll flat scream but you could still drive them every day and are for the most part practical.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
