There is an original called The 300 Spartans. Leonidas was played by Richard Egan. I didn't click on the link, so I imagine we're going to be treated to Brad Pitt as Leonidas.

I love that movie. Probably a little dated (haven't seen it in years) but would have been on my list of the "Movies you always watch" thread if I had thought of it. Rain of arrows at the end always made me sad:( -
