Recommend a good receiver for Polk Lsi series?

I'm helping a friend install a home theater. He is going with 4 Polk Lc60i ceiling speakers and a Lsic center channel. I've heard of powering issues with this line because of the 4 ohm impedance. Can anyone recommend a good receiver to power these speakers with? Thanks!

With the Lsi line you'll have to get a receiver like the Yamaha Z9 or something that can handle 4ohm. I would save up to get an external amp to power them. Do a search on the Lsi and you'll find lots of good info.

B&K and NAD as well. I would consider these or the three Zero mentioned before Yamaha, Pioneer or HK.

I would say an Outlaw 990 pre/pro and one of there amps (the 200 wpc one) should be considerred if it fits in the budget. but as there saying above, you want the beefiest of recievers for the LSi. They love the power and current.

If he is like me and not comfortable with wife dealing with amps and pre-amps he should get a B&K receiver and not look back. They stand by their products and are in the upstate NY area. My wife is happy with hers and so am I.

I run mine with HK (which I've hears others describe as neutral sounding). I'd like to step up to seperates, but thats a LONG way down the road. In any case, I've found that the HK and LSi set up doesn't quite give me the treble levels I'd like to get with the tonal setting halfway, so I've increased the treble about 25% to compensate. I'm hoping that when I do get seperates, I'll be able to find a "brighter" amp to marry to the subdued LSi.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I was at tweeter and the guy was running Lsi-9's off a Yamaha RX-V659 at high volume for a good amount of time. I don't know what would happen with all 5 speakers being driven at 4ohms or if sound would be nicer off a dedicated amp, but it sounded good and there was no clipping.

"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." If he's willing to spend the money on upper-level speakers, he needs to be ready to spend money on everything else necessary to make them sound like they should. I say separates.

I agree. However, if you are in a stuation when room is an issue ,both with speakers and for components, and need bookshelf speakers and no room for separates the Lsi-9's still sound better then any bookshelf for the money.
They had the best bass out of all the bookshelfs I've herd.
