wakeboard enclosures

are these things more than just enclosures to make speakers usable on a boat, or do they really enhance the sound of the speaker? In looking at my rear deck install, I've been trying to work around a problem where I want my speakers top-mounted on the deck trim, but of course, the flimsy material won't do any good for the sound.

So it occurred to me to use wakeboard enclosures and then I can mount the speaker at any height I wish, relative to the steel portion of the rear deck. I really wonder though - how they'd sound inside a car.
