2.3TL tweeter questions

Question 1:
Do the thermal switches "wear out" if they kick in too often (once a week)?

Question 2:
It appears that most of the treble (at least what I can hear) is coming from the top tweeter on both speakers. It appears that the tweets possibly are responsible for different frequency ranges, with the top one handling the most pronounced when you put your ear close to it. It sounds like the top one might handle the highest of the highs, like symbols. If that's not the case, and they should all sound the same, then I need to do some swapping to diagnose a possible problem with my bottom 2 tweets on both sides. They definately aren't putting out as "intense" a sound as the top ones.

    Answers to your questions:

!.. Yes, get new polyswitches from Polk. An easy fix if you can use a soldering gun.

    2. Yes, the array is desinged to be a progressive point source. Different frequencies for each of the three tweeters. Nothing wron with them. Just replace those SL2000's with the RD0-194 silk tweeters. You'll love the improvement..

Carl is correct on both. Of course, if you are driving the amp into clipping range you will trip the switches regardless.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the "TL" series don't use sl2000 as the original tweet. They use sl3000 for which the Polk replacement silk is the RD0-198.

    Right? Wrong?

Right; TL's use SL3000's, and the replacement is the RDO-198
