My 21 month old son toppled my R LSI 15 speaker. One corner is crunched and between the ring tweeter and mid. drivers there is cracks. The enclosure problaby cracked internally. Does anyone know if polk would sell the enclosure?

Bummed out in paradise,

Scary stuff. Glad to hear nobody was hurt.

Just goes to show you, floorstanding doesn't mean safe. I'm actually going to have to get some kind of anchors for my RT800i and rethink my Monitor 5s on stands before our baby starts toddling. Nylon straps screwed to the back and sunk into a stud? That's what all the tall bookshelves are doing now. I hate to screw into the back, but safety is more important than preserving the speaker.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

You could get some plastic strap (any hardware store will have it) and screw it into a stud and then use some strong 3m tape (like they use to put the side panels on the LSi's) and stick the strap to the back of the speaker. Should withstand any jolts (especially if it starts fairly taught) and can be removed later with no ill effects.

May I suggest the superyard xt strategically placed around equipment and mounted firmly to the wall or furniture. I've seen it used effectively for a variety of toddler situations:

It doesn't look so good, but it looks a lot better than a crushed cabinet :(.

The keyhole mounts on polk speakers also work really well for wall mounting, and I've even had success rigging my lsi/fxs to hang from heavy duty ceiling mounts using the factory keyholes.

We have a superyard XT in the living room. Great item that held him for 21 months. Of course he now climbs over it. But I still might put one in the front of the system, if only they were a little higher........talked to Ken and we have a solution. Polk Customer service is no.1 bar none!!!!

Well, I'm sure the barbed wire would help, but if the kid is determined, even anchoring the cabinet to the wall won't prevent him from prying off the grilles and 'experimenting' with the drivers...

You might want to just get a pair of cheap r30s for a year. Drill holes and anchor them to the wall studs. After a year of banging those around, he should get bored of them and move on...;)

Cover each speaker with tin foil and hook up an electric fence controller. I know a guy that did that with a cat that he couldn't keep off his kitchen counter. You could throw that cat at the counter now and he would find a way in mid flight to land elsewhere.

All joking aside, glad your kid is okay, and that you've got a fix planned.
