LSiC crashes to the floor

So I am out of town for 6 days and when I come back, somehow my LSiC has been tossed off the shelf and onto the hardwood floor some 5 feet down or so. One corner is crushed in, and there is some damage to the front screen.
It seems to still work(though I have not done exhaustive testing yet), but I wondered is there anything inside that could break from such a fall like crossover parts or magnets or anything?

Sigh..only had it a month.

probably not, the cabinet probably took all the energy from the impact. play the speaker, if it sounds normal (no glaring sound issues) then all should be well inside. I'd be surprised if anything hapenned internally

Probably a good idea to take out the drivers and inspect them for damage.

The wife claims to know nothing about it. She came home and found it that way and was afraid to touch it so she left it where it lay.

There is a bit of a dent in the floor, but not too much. Too bad it is a front corner that took the hit as the asthetics took a bit of a hit as well.

I suppose I can take out the drivers for inspection. Anything glaring would probably be heard though, and anything subtle I am likely to miss during inspection.

Thanks for your support in this time of grief. :)

    major bummer....

maybe you should see about changing your screenname to "Inexplicably Restored to Former Glory"

    just a thought

You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Everyone with LSi should double and triple check them tonight.... strap them down too!

We cant have this happening to our beloved speakers! Poor little guys, they give so much and they get injured along the way. :(

Pull off the rear plate (4 screws) where you hook up the speaker wires. The crossover is mounted to it and the plastic mounting posts are a bit of a weak point. Visually inspect that none of the parts of the crossover have broken off. If the crossover is still in place you are probably fine, if not then pull each speaker and make sure the wires have not pulled away from them.

Don't forget the shielding cups, too. One of those could bang loose and you'd never hear it, but as soon as you put it on your TV.....

Thanks for the suggestions. I am traveling again, and will have to check it all out when I get back.

THIS time I took it down before I left to avoid a repeat situation.

This stuff is your friend. Doesn't hurt the finish, and speakers are going nowhere. Also provides a bit of isolation from the surface it's sitting on. Just need a few small pieces in the corners.

So the C has been running fine for awhile until this weekend. I took it down to install the new 65" Widescreen, and when I put it back up it now sounds like only the midrange driver is running. I can barely hear anything from the speaker at all. Checked cabling, and that is fine.

I guess I am going to have to crack it open and see what is loose inside.

I am still crying that my 5 year warranty is shot on this speaker. At least I got a good deal on all my LSis.

    Update: Its not the speaker.

On a whim, I hooked up the LSiC to my right left front main output and it works fine throughout its range. The LSi25 which was not hooked to the center channel sounded almost dead. So...it would appear that the center channel on my AVR is toast.

Sigh. Its only 2 months old. Denon will fix it of course, but its a couple of weeks turn around. What the heck will I do for sound for a couple of weeks!!?

Interestingly, taking the center off line, and just having a "phantom" center from the 25s sounds pretty damn good. Almost makes we wonder why we bother with centers.

Centers suck... probally the most overpriced piece of audio equipment available...

But, their main purpose is for in a room, with multiple people watching movies (off center) - everyone is getting vocals in the center/TV...

Otherwise, if you are the only one jamming out to Arnold going through buildings - you dont need one. FWIW
