Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi DVD Player ?

Hey...........does anyone here know anything about this transport? Is Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi HDMI, iLINK Universal DVD Player any good? Any experience?

The guy wants $480.00 USD in mint condition. Is this a good price? All comments would be appreciated.

    It is a well regarded DVD player over on the AVS forum and by the DVD Benchmark folks. I think it puts out 480i over its HDMI connection so it's a good candidate to use with external video processors. iLink will get you DVD-A and maybe SACD over a digital connection to external DAC's for those formats as well.

    I'm trying to decide myself whether or not to spend similar money on a used 59avi, a DVD-2900 or 3800, or maybe even an Onkyo SP-1000. Or go ahead and spend another $150 or so and find a new DVD-2930ci?

    I have the 79avi and it's pretty good. $480.00 may be a bit high for the 59...?

    Great player. At $480 it may be a little pricey. Check out Audiogon and eBay. I think these sell for the $400 range. Great transport!!

    I Love mine,picture is outstanding.Very good all arounder.You can turn all the video processing off while playing audio.SACD is also very good.I paid 500 about 8 months ago and still think it's a steal at that price.

    Got mine for $400 off CL locally, a steal for sure, they go for closer to $550 on Audiogon, many closer to $600 listed.

    I'm happy with my Elite 47-Ai, been running strong without a problem for over three and a half years. I paid $900 for mine back in the day when I didn't realize how cheap you can get equipment used for.

    I checked audiogon, there are some posted there (59avi's) for around $400, but all seem to be sold. I'm guessing the prices of PEs will continue to come down as HD-DVD and BluRay get more popular. . . people looking to raise some quick scratch when they get antsy for the newest technology will price them to sell.
