Mono SACD / Stereo SACD

Hello,
I have a few Mono SACDs and Stereo as well as Multi-Channel.
When playing a Mono SACD or Stereo SACD do I still choose the 5:1 setting or do I let my Pioneer Receiver on Auto find out for itself?
I have just purchased Little Richards Mono SACD with all his fifties hits and this is puzzling me.
Thanks in advance.

You wouldn't want to choose 5.1 as the material isn't 5.1, eh!?! I don't know how the auto setting on your AVR works, so either give it a try or set it for 2 channel.Political Correctness'.........defined

Welcome to the Club Polk Forums Roger!
Simply play the mono SACD as you would any other SACD. You could also set it to 2 channel as F1 suggested, the result will be the same.
Do you have your SACD player connected to your receiver using the analog outputs? An SACD player will output standard redbook through your coax connection, but you would not get the SACD sound. You may already know this but I thought I'd ask.

The SACD player should be set to 2 channel and be connected to the AVR via analog cables through the AVR's multi-channel analog inputs.
Been wondering about that Little Richard SACD myself. -
I would leave the player set to multichannel. The receiver & the player will know that it is a mono/stereo/multichannel disc & play accordingly.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Thanks Guys for your input.
My receiver is connected by analogue cables and multi-channel works fine.
Guess I'll leave it at 5:1.
I do notice that some of my Stones mono SACDs do not switch on my sub-woofer, so it looks as though my Pioneer is taking care of things.

My experience has been that not all hi rez discs.. contain the .1 audio track.
I've yet to run into a mono SACD though... i doubt i'd like it.. if the disc has choice to play in stereo or 5.1 i ususally try all of them.. and pick that one that sounds best to me.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Hi Guys,
Although this seems strange but it works for me.
I set my Pioneer to:
Signal Auto.
Analog.
Use Pro Logic 11
The sound comes out of my center speaker only, that fortunately is quite powerful and my Sub-Woofer powers up automatically.
This is giving me the sound that I recognize from my 78s.
I would describe the sound as rough, but refined and a smooth bass.
This is Little Richard as I remember him, the Achitect of Rock 'n' Roll.Regards
