SACD is Super Audio Compact Disc. It is a hi-rez music format that can contain up to 3 layers, a hi-rez 2 channel layer, a hi-rez multi-channel layer and a 2 channel redbook (regular CD) layer.
The other stuff has to with video, which I don't care about, but some other good folks here do and will be able to answer those questions.Political Correctness'.........defined

480 is what most DVD resolution is played at...
780, 1080i or 1080P are HDTV resolutions and you don't have to worry about any of them. If you have an HDTV TV, it will play whatever it is being fed resolution wise.. so you don't have to do any switching between different resolutions or anything. the TV will do it for ya.. free of charge. LOL
what is it you are concerned about exactly?
HDMI is a single cable that can be conncected from your cable box to your TV display.. or from your receiver if it has HDMI to your TV. basically it sends the audio and video in digital to your TV.
SACD also requires you to use 6 cables from the player to your recevier.. for you to listen to that hi resolution audio. Regular CD's contain 16 bits of digital information. SACD's contain 24 bits of digital information.. more bits.. higer resolution, usually much better sound.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Just to clarify, you only need 6 cables IF you want to listen to multi-channel otherwise you just use the normal 2 cables to get either the hi-rez 2 channel layer or the redbook layer. SACD is based on DSD technology, which is 1 bit, but has a sampling rate of 2.8224mHz resulting in higher resolution.Political Correctness'.........defined

I suggest consulting Wikipedia for the SACD/DVD-A info. There is a great deal of learning to be had there.
If you're not prepared to undergo a new, expensive addiction, I would recommend staying away from any high resolution audio. Once you hear it you won't want to go back.HT/music rig
