WTB: SL 2500 tweeter

Hi, I have a pair of Monitor 5 Polks that I bought new in 1992. Now one tweeter is out. I don't know why, these were not abused or even played all that much. So... now I need one SL 2500 tweeter.
Other questions - Why do tweeters go bad, other than too much or distorted signal? Is there any reason tweeters need to be replaced as pairs, are they matched in any way? What are the replacements that Polk now sells, do they match the old SL2500? THANKS all!
