I'd post a link, but the CA&E site hasn't been updated yet. Link to be added at a later time...

I figured these guys would have been more thrilled with the Polk SR124-DVC. They gave it a total subjective score of 71/100, in spite of some reasonably good scores in the subjective listening tests  .

For comparison purposes, they recently rated these subs at:

Critical Mass UL 12 91/100
Alpine SWX-1242D 88/100
Cerwin-Vega stroker Pro 15 88/100
Phoenix Gold RSD12 86/100
Earthquake Subzero-12 82/100
Xtant X2.1044 81/100
Rockford Fosgate P212S4 79/100
Stereo Integrity Mag 12 73/100
JL Audio 10W6V2 65/80 or 81/100
Rockford Fosgate T210D4 65/80 or 81/100
Image Dynamics IDMax 10D4 V4 64/80 or 80/100
Digital Designs 3510d 64/80 or 80/100

That would put the Polk SR offering dead last in this bunch. What gives?? I demand a re-match...

I guess they're entitled to give a "subjective" opinion.

Looking at that list, they seem to be more into SPL subs. That UL12 handles 2500 watts RMS.

That UL-12 is also a $2000 subwoofer. Looks like its designed similar to the AURA subs used in the $18,000 Wilson XS sub. What are the 2 different scores for the IDMAX & DD subs? Is one sealed & one ported? I really wish some of these magazines would test some new drivers with XBL or LMS motors just to see how they stack up.

It's not two different scores- they were tested on a scale of 80, and 64/80=80/100.

my sr12 sounds great and its not even broken in. it blends very well with my sr6500 set. it can only get better when it breaks in. i do really like the alpine type x 12, but not the 12w6. the 12w6 isnt as tight as the sr12 or the alpine and cant handle as much power. i was really suprised by the quality of the alpine and think the sr has a simular sound quality. i think i could throw some more power at the sr though. 1000w might be perfect for it.

That is weird. The SR component set smoked pretty much everybody when CA&E tested them. I figured the SR sub would do just as well.

However I refuse to believe the SR got beat by Phoenix Gold and Earthquake!

What was the overall SQ score?

Right, but there should be a section in the Subjective Score Chart for Overall Sound Quality. What was that score?
