Subwoofer line connections

For those familiar with my sub pre-out problems. Gonna try something new.

I want to try the line method for my sub hookup.

I have the klipsch ksw10 sub that does not have speaker-out terminals
The schematic for setup says to run wires from my amp to the Speaker-In left/right +/- jacks on the sub.

Question - how do I wire the fronts?

Do I run a seconds set of cables from the same terminals on the amp to the speakers?

Or do I run cables from the amp to the fronts, then cables from the fronts to the speaker in on the subs?

Will I be able to set the bypass and phase of the sub with these methods?

Just want to ask before I blow something up with wiring :o

Thanks for any advice

Jab, the first point is terminology: you're using "line" here, which is the line-level connection that you're already using. There are two types of connection to the sub: a line-level connection using coaxial cable and a speaker-level connection using lampcord(which is apparently what you want to try now).

I looked at some of your earlier posts and unless the internal sub amplifier is defective the reason that it sometimes goes off or is hard to turn on is because it isn't getting enough voltage from the sub output on the receiver. You didn't respond to danger's suggestion to switch the sub amp to(always)on rather than auto on to see if that would help. The other point I noticed is that the level control on your sub is set rather high, which means that the output from the receiver is automatically lowered during YPAO calibration to compensate. Instead, set the level control on sub much lower(maybe 1/4th) so that YPAO will send more voltage out of the receiver(which may keep the sub amp on).

When you use YPAO don't let it set your LSi9s "large"; manually set all speakers "small" with an 80Hz crossover. Set the bass output to "SWFR", not "BOTH".

If you still want to try the speaker-level connection you use separate wires from the receiver to the sub terminals and to the speaker terminals. You don't have to jam both wires into one terminal on the receiver(although this is possible, especially if the ends of the wires are trimmed down a bit)because the 757 has a parallel set of A and B main speaker terminals. Connect the sub to one set and the speakers to the other and turn on both A and B. You can't bypass the sub's internal crossover if you use this connection method because you're not getting the benefit of the receiver's bass management to the sub, and the sub has to use its own crossover. As usual for this the mains would be set "large" and the sub "no".

It's suggested that you try some more adjustments with your present line-level connection first.

    John, thanks for the info!

Sorry out the confusion with the terminology. Your assumptions were correct.

I must have left one of my previous post hanging. In the past, the setup was attempted with the level set between 9 and 11 o'clock and always on.

The company that I purchased the receiver from acknowledged a problem with the receiver. Problem is they have failed to fix it twice. I received it back last week and noticed that a signal is now being pushed to the sub. I can hear a hum and the sub is vibrating when the sub level is turned up. However, it is not playing anything from the source.

Being thoroughly frustrated with shipping the item back and forth and it coming back cosmetically damaged each time. I want to see how the speaker-level connections worth.

Going to try one more reset and setup.
After that I am going to try the A/B method you described above.

    Thanks again
