I have a chance to get a new denon 2106 for $600.00. I currently have a Yamaha RX-V650. I lack mid range right now. I have tried new speakers and they all have lacked so I'm thinking it's the Yamaha. Dose anyone think this is a worth while up-grade?
I am not happy with my current system in the living room.I switched my Monitor 30s for RTI6's and the diff. was very minimal. Not worth the money. I hooked up my Boston VR 30's from our 2-channel system and even they had no midrange so i'm guessing it's the recv.

Why don't u try out an external amp before buying a new receiver? The amp will make your system sound better.

I thought about it. But I don't really have the room and the amps I was looking at were over 2 grand. They are fixing the RX-V650 cheap for me because it was most likely bad when I bought it and I was nice enough to spend some more cash while I was there.I have to say the local tweeter dose treat customers very well. I'll seel it and put the money twords more audi gadjets.

I already bought a new one. I got the RX-V2500 that is equivalent to the Denon 3806 (I think thats the right number). But thanks for the link. I'm still looking for some other stuff.

I am setting up my new system this weekend. I just got the RX-V2500 for $499 from tweeter. Did you you the yamaha mic to auto set up or do it on your own?

I just saw you bought this in another thread. Ya, I used the mic but I had to tweek it when it was done. I love the receiver and will be adding a 5 channel amp to run a full set of Lsi's. My 7's sound good but I moving them to the rear and adding a set of 9's or 15's.
    Good luck with it.

Thanks for the input. It is reasuring to hear that you run LSIs up front with this unit since many people indicate they need lots of power. I know you will be adding an amp to take over, but still to have the 7's sound good that helps me feel better that the gear I have will work out.

(I posted a similar question to you in the "Am I lazy" thread sorry for the duplication. I saw it before I saw this post. Thanks for your help.)

Are you planning to run Lsi's? The receiver will drive them but no to the full potential. The 7's are, from what I have been told, closer to a 6ohm speaker but don't quote me on that.

No. Maybe one day. But I will be running RTi4s in the front with Monitor 30s in the back. Having to keep the speaker size smaller as a compromise for setting the HT up in the Den instead of the FROG where we are putting our gym equipment.

I meant to clarify, the reasuring part is if the 2500 has enough power to the LSIs to sound good, it should be able to push my speakers pretty well.

I'm running M30's for the surrounds now. They work well. The rti's are much nicer. If you can I would stay with all rti's. Just remember the front 3 (front right, left and center) must be timber matched so keep them of the same series. I started my last system with all monitors and was not thrilled. I wound up spending money twice. The surrounds don't really matter as much because they are only for effects.

Are M30s the same as monitor 30s? I am trying to find a few more speakers for various places in the house to music. I saw some at circuit city (only) called M20, M30, etc, and I was not sure if that was the same as a Monitor line speaker.

Yes, M stands for monitor. Tweeter carries the monitors also under the "T" like t90e and t20e. Your better off staying away from places like Circuit city unless money is an issue. If thats the case, I would just wait and save or buy used.
